Hermosa Beach Restaurant Round Up

Hermosa Beach may be the smallest city in the South Bay, but she packs a big culinary punch. With some of the best restaurants around, you can eat your way through about every country, culture, and cuisine in Hermosa Beach.

The iconic Pier Plaza is packed with incredible eateries. Palmilla Cocina y Tequila has the best homemade tortillas (paired with honey butter, yum) and margaritas in town. Silvio’s is a local favorite, featuring delicious Brazilian barbeque and sangria pitchers. Go to Tower 12 for a beachside paradise with excellent food and balcony views overlooking Pier Plaza. American Junkie, Baja Sharkeez, Hennesy’s, and Waterman’s are classic bars perfect for a casual post-volleyball drink. The new Vista wine bar at Pier Plaza’s end has a massive patio right next to The Strand and sand.

Dia del Campo, Fox & Farrow, and the new Japonica boast some of the best Mexican, British, and Japanese food, respectively, all in one line on Hermosa Ave and 13th. Just north of Pier Plaza on 14th, the tiny Mexican La Playita has proudly served Hermosa locals for decades. A bit further north on 22nd, Martha’s Cafe has breakfast on lock, while Bottle Inn has been voted the best Italian food in the South Bay numerous times.

Ascend Pier Avenue for even more delicious food. Rockefeller’s brunch (featuring bottomless guava, peach, and watermelon mimosas) is legendary. Hook & Plow brings the farm right to your table, while the Source Cafe is the best camouflaged healthy food in the South Bay.

The Pier and Strand aren’t the only places worth lauding. Uncle Stavros, Mickey’s Deli, and The Spot on 2nd and Hermosa are three of the best places in town. Ask any local, and I bet they tell you Mickey’s is their go-to quick bite.

We’d be remiss not to mention the unexpected hotspot of quality restaurants on 5th and PCH. Oki Doki promises great sushi, Fat Tomato is a solid pizza place, and Baran’s 2239 is our absolute favorite Hermosa restaurant. As the only Michelin-starred establishment in Hermosa Beach, the unassuming family-owned spot offers a diverse, adventurous, and seasonal menu. Try the Indian Egg, Smoked and Fried Chicken, and Oyster Mushrooms for the best meal of your life!

We couldn’t even include some of our favorites like Steak & Whiskey, Zane’s, and The Stanton. Hermosa is just that good.
