November Events in the South Bay

How do we only have two more months of 2022? Feels like yesterday we were taking down the holiday lights, and now it’s almost time to put them up again. It’s the most wonderful time of the year, partly because of the incredible community events bringing us together in the name of holiday cheer.

Don’t miss the Mira Costa Drama LOVE/SICK Opening Night TONIGHT!! A cousin to Almost, Maine, LOVE/SICK is a collection of nine slightly twisted and completely hilarious short plays. We’re proud sponsors and will see you all there tonight, Friday, November 4th, at 7:30 pm. If you can’t make it, you have all week until next Saturday, November 12, to catch the kids in action.

This Sunday, November 6th, we turn our clocks back for the final time. After Congress approved the switch in the previous election, this is officially the last time Daylight Savings will end. Next March, we’ll move our clocks forward and stay in Daylight Savings for the foreseeable future. Only one more 23-hour day; only one more struggle bus week after less sleep.

Next comes Voting Day on November 8th. Whatever your political affiliation, get out and vote to have your voice heard! There are key local elections and measures throughout the South Bay, not to mention national seats. Brush up on who’s who with voter guides, and then get out and vote!

On November 11th, honor Veterans Day by paying a visit to the 9/11 memorials in Hermosa Beach (Pier Ave. between Valley and Ardmore) and Manhattan Beach (corner of 15th Street and Valley Drive).

Then we get holiday ready in both Hermosa and Manhattan. On November 16th, enjoy the iconic Manhattan Beach Pier Lighting. All the local boutiques stay open late, offering snacks, drinks, and frivolity before the Pier gets its annual holiday adornment. Then that weekend, November 18-20, Hermosa for the Holidays brings an open-air Winter Wonderland to the beach. Bring the family for eclectic gifts, carnival rides, craft-making, and Santa!

Whether you celebrate Thanksgiving with friends, family, or not at all, Thursday, November 24th, is an excellent day to take stock of life with gratitude in mind. Get a little exercise and community in before the feasting at the Torrance Turkey Trot, starting at 8 AM, rain or shine!
